In our interactive haunted house, we often encounter situations where the guests arrive, see the reception for the first time, and start to feel scared. This is unsurprising, as they enter a basement where the authentic decor creates a chilling atmosphere. After a few minutes, they hear sounds coming from the group's trials ahead of them, intensifying their fear.
Our brains work in interesting ways. Based on our guests’ accounts and reactions, our brains pre-create the “demons” we might not even encounter inside. The sounds, lights, words, and stories presented by the actors often trigger immediate fear responses in the guests’ minds.
Of course, our goal is not for everyone to give up at the beginning, but 10-20% of the guests turn back within the first few minutes, while nothing has happened yet.
